Facebook Fields Feature Phone App

Facebook launched the new app Thursday, saying it will work on more than 2,500 phones from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, and other manufacturers. The company developed the app with Snaptu, which specializes in helping Web sites take their content from the personal computer to the much smaller screen of a mobile phone.

Motorola Xoom and the ATRIX 4G smartphone with CLIQ 2 and DROID BIONIC that joins the list of super phones to be unveiled at CES 2011. DROID BIONIC for Verizon leverages on its high speed 4G LTE network. The smartphone sports a dual core processor (1GHz each), a 4.3 qHD capacitive display, 512MB RAM, VGA front-facing camera and 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash that supports HD video recording, and HDMI out. It also implements the “mirror mode” technology to stream videos to a television or device. There is no news on which Android version the set will run on but, fingers crossed, it’s going to be Gingerbread.

 Aside from the earlier partnership formed between Microsoft and Facebook, Skype is another company integrating their popular software with the social network in the aim of making calls and video chats much easier for family and friends in the online space.
